Kalpetta is a major town and a municipality in the Wayanad district, state of Kerala, India. It is the headquarters of the Wayanad district as well as the headquarters of Vythiri taluk. It is a bustling town surrounded by mountains and lush greenery and plantations.Kalpetta village is situated almost the central part of wayanad district. It is surrounded by Kottathara Village in the North, Muttil South, thrikkaippata village in the East, Kottappadi, Chunda Village in the South, Vengappalli village in the West . It lies on the Kozhikode-Mysore National Highway NH 766 (formerly NH 212) at an altitude of about 780 m above sea level. Kalpetta is 72 km from Kozhikode and 140 km from Mysore.
